Session Start: Sat Oct 27 20:52:38 2007 [20:52] * Now talking in #c64friends [20:52] * Topic is 'We Adore Our C64 == and Q-Link!!' [20:52] Howdy folks [20:52] hey snog [20:52] hiya Snogpitch [20:52] Evening Snog. [20:53] * Masher (Masher@NewNet-7684FEA1.dsl.bell.ca) has joined #c64friends [20:53] Hi all. [20:53] oh you Masher [20:53] Howdy Masher [20:53] Hello Masher. [20:53] I mean hiya Masher [20:54] wb snog [20:54] ya, I'm at home now... [20:56] ya know Iwas looking for that disk# swapping program I wrote some time ago...it wasn't where I thought it was. [20:58] either that or I forgot what the name of the program was :/ [21:00] ah, just found it! :) [21:00] 8-) [21:00] Great! [21:00] now to figure out who wanted it [21:00] '< [21:01] it's a 5 line program, short enough to type in if you don't want to load it [21:01] well impress us Snogpitch [21:01] Snog: was it to change the drive # from 8 t 9? [21:01] ya [21:01] put it up for to see [21:01] or whatever number for that matter [21:01] I believe it was asked on one of the e-mail lists or csc? [21:02] FireflyST comes to mind....have to look at last week's log [21:02] If some one wants that data they can search groups.google.com for the basic program [21:02] I have seen it many times in csc. [21:02] They come in handy. I needed to use one until I did a permanent change to a 1541 drive. [21:02] How about just get a drive with switches? [21:03] yes being able to switch from #8-11 is a plus [21:03] ya, I had a 1541-II that was usually set as #9 and an MSD as #8, so I used it to change the drive #9 back to 8 without swapping the switches again. [21:03] The impossible takes a little longer. :-D [21:03] I used it primarily for programs that wouldn't load on the MSD [21:04] Mounting switches on a 1541 would be hard for me. [21:05] why, Antares51... it isn't that hard unless you're all thumbs with bad eyesight [21:05] let me send it over to this machine [21:06] You're correct sir! [21:06] * smj (~smj@NewNet-F48CD4CB.freeshell.org) has joined #c64friends [21:06] Howdy smj [21:06] Hello smj. [21:06] hello there [21:06] how do, smj [21:06] anyone know where I can find a vic-switch manual? [21:07] Soldering the wires isn't hard. [21:07] service manual or owners manual? [21:07] but? [21:07] owners [21:09] I am poorly coordinated and need my artificial eye lenses hit with a yag laser. [21:09] ah time for a tuneup [21:10] Driving at night is like a chinese fire drill. [21:10] At night, in the rain I need a white cane. [21:10] * Rohno (rohno@NewNet-65BF504E.rexx.com) has joined #c64friends [21:10] * ChanServ sets mode: +v Rohno [21:10] Howdy Rohno [21:11] Hi.. [21:14] hello [21:15] Hello bogax. [21:15] I can't TROUT is an unknown command [21:15] Howdy bogax [21:16] ??? [21:16] hahahahahaha [21:16] some irq uses TROUT as a command to slap someone in the face [21:17] No fun at all! [21:17] * weirdwolf gets the CD-rom drive laser gun and aims for Anteres eyes. [21:17] * ShadowM (~shadow@NewNet-BBF6AD9F.dsl.milwwi.ameritech.net) has joined #c64friends [21:17] Hey glenn [21:17] Evening Shadow. [21:18] hiya [21:18] no no no weirdwolf, not the red laser! [21:24] yup [21:24] I want to see AJAX for the '64 [21:24] I never saw a working C64 take more than two seconds to startup. This box takes three minutes! [21:24] that would be funny [21:25] didn't the pc-jr fire up fast? [21:25] Gotta defrag this sucker three times a day. [21:26] or was that the ps2 [21:26] pcjr into rom basic is fast, but it still depends on how much memory you have [21:26] never defragged a filesystem since I started using Linux 12 years ago [21:26] back up your files, reformat and start fresh [21:26] * Q-Link (~qlink@NewNet-F9F35691.ltshosting.net) has joined #c64friends [21:26] Entered QRoom: Snogpitch [21:27] my machine takes about 20 seconds... [21:32] {Balzabaar} :) [21:32] no prob ;) [21:32] is al the one who likes to turn C= stuff into new looking PC's [21:32] Al is a landmark. [21:34] yoyo jas [21:34] Hi jasmaz [21:34] *Snogpitch remembers to use //me on Q :P [21:35] *ShadowM says //me too [21:35] hey antares51 did that wild fire come to you [21:35] No fires here in the Great Plains. [21:36] *Balzabaar got it. :) [21:36] $36 for a $6 disk notcher is truly ridiculous. [21:36] Got two of 'em. Don't really need 'em. [21:37] except if you are the seller [21:37] {Balzabaar} I'm the one who lives in Southern California, Beeman. [21:37] That's true. [21:37] {ShadowM} Golan, are you saying that after you paid it or before? :) [21:37] hmmm, maybe I should put my disk notchers on there [21:37] {Balzabaar} There were fires all around Moreno Valley, where I live, but none here, thankfully. [21:37] Balzabaar just sold this: https://www.atlaz.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=AC&Product_Code=112 [21:37] For this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110183996783&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001 [21:37] {Balzabaar} We have had smoke and ash in the air though. :( [21:38] * Hershey (~Javauser@NewNet-E478BA7C.dynamic.mts.net) Quit (Quit: Leaving) [21:38] {Balzabaar} Golan, since I can't copy and paste those links in Q-Link, would you care to enlighten me as to [21:38] {Balzabaar} what they are? [21:38] I wish stupidity was painful. [21:38] Disk notchers. [21:38] {ShadowM} what ever happened with that tag library for C=, wasn't it CML or something? [21:38] Bal: Remember the disk notcher(s) you bought for $6 each? You just sold one for $36. [21:39] mtl3 pit3 1st pwrplay mtl [21:39] hahahahaha [21:39] * Hershey (~Javauser@NewNet-E478BA7C.dynamic.mts.net) has joined #c64friends [21:39] ??? [21:39] WB Hershey. [21:39] {Balzabaar} Golan: Thanks for the news... I just got home from work, so I haven't had the time to check yet [21:39] {Balzabaar} ... [21:39] it''s all mtl right now [21:40] {Balzabaar} Never expected it to sell for that much, that's for sure! [21:40] golan: Some one was interest in that disk notcher or are you jealous he got that price? [21:40] good goal keeping by pit though [21:40] he was making an observation you twit [21:40] I know several folks at ECCC asked if we had any notchers for sale [21:41] I have 1 not for sale [21:41] Never use 'em. [21:41] {Balzabaar} Well, I bought 6 from that place... I guess I'll continue selling them, if there are people... [21:41] {Balzabaar} ...willing to pay that much for them. :) [21:42] {Balzabaar} Not to mention that I just sold my last box of 100 3M disks. [21:42] np Balzabaar [21:42] I usually keep one in my SX64 bag [21:43] {Balzabaar} The place I bought them from, which I assume is the link Golan posted, sells them for $6 each, [21:43] {Balzabaar} plus $9 for shipping no matter how many you buy. [21:43] that's a pretty good markup Balzabaar [21:43] {Balzabaar} They're listed as being for Apples... But a 5.25" disk notcher works just as good on Commodore [21:43] {Balzabaar} disks. ;) [21:43] weirdwolf: I don't know what it is you're asking me. [21:44] {Balzabaar} I just check my eBay page... The same guy that bought the notcher also bought my last box of [21:44] {Balzabaar} 100 disks. [21:44] {Balzabaar} I guess he'll be putting the notcher to good use. ;) [21:44] Now he has 200 disks, I guess. [21:45] I've got cases of new, sealed Maxell disks if anyone needs them. [21:45] {Balzabaar} oh, and he's in Denmark. [21:45] {ShadowM} I am drowning in disks. blub blub [21:46] You can never have enough disks. [21:46] I love the smell of new disks in the morning. [21:46] {ShadowM} blub... blub blub [21:47] I got new mac smell going on here golan [21:47] ...especially DD/DS 3.5 inchers. [21:47] and I got an hdmi > dvi cable too :D [21:48] My new computer's video card already has HDMI out. [21:48] i just got a=n hdmi cable for my mini to the hdtv [21:48] antares: my new dell does [21:48] antares: but this is a new mac, no hdmi on it (mac pro) [21:48] there are no ggod pc video cards with hdmi [21:48] maybed if I upgraded to the ati card it might have had it [21:48] but.. I really didn't want to without KNOWING what I was getting [21:48] oh mtl pit shootout [21:48] apple guys at the apple store, couldn't answer even simple questinos... [21:49] complete knobs [21:49] With ME II tanking the don't have to be good. [21:49] err they. [21:49] Yeah, they're idiots. They could swap them with the droids at The Gap and nobody would notice. [21:50] ya, at where I work, we've proven the apple genius's wrong many times [21:50] round 4 [21:50] Friends don't let friends use Vista. [21:50] And the so called Geniuses are the people whose resumes I use to tear up. McDonald's is that way... [21:51] Half the speed at double the price. [21:51] {Balzabaar} Does anyone know what a cartridge labeled "TOOL 64" is for? It's by "Handic software ab". [21:52] hahahahahaha [21:52] round 7 these goalies are hot [21:52] sounds like a bunch of west coasters... [21:52] I have a disk package called the Tool.. [21:53] {Balzabaar} Snogpitch: Is it by Handic? [21:53] round 8 [21:54] no, it's by Homeware [21:54] {Balzabaar} I plug the cartridge in, but it doesn't seem to do anything... I don't know if there are just... [21:54] Entered QRoom: King Sammy [21:54] {Balzabaar} ...hidden commands, or if the cartridge is broken. [21:54] {ShadowM} maybe there's a magic word [21:54] mtl wins in round 8 [21:55] Missed it by that much. [21:55] On this disk package, it has a screen generator, enhanced graphic instructions, and a programmnig aid [21:55] {Balzabaar} f-keys don't do anything... [21:56] try a combination of C= plus a letter key [21:56] It appears it was originally Pacific Tri Micro, Inc [21:56] golan: really, google could answer them.. just the apple store is full of people, and its so crazy in there [21:56] I think that how I found out how to use a cartridge with no docs [21:56] {ShadowM} try "Abracadabra" [21:57] have you cleaned the contacts on the cartridge? Sometimes it just needs a cleaning to get it going. [21:57] {Balzabaar} iViper: I'll try that... [21:57] Dead body? [21:57] {Balzabaar} ShadowM: I doubt that'll work. ;) [21:57] like C=H [21:57] for help [21:57] {Balzabaar} Masher: Yeah, I'll try that, too. [21:57] might give a list of commands [21:58] The british pound key also usually does help commands or bring up a menu on lots of programs [21:58] Anyone know which IDE CDROM drives will work in an A4000? [22:00] {Balzabaar} Does the british pound show up on PC's and Macs when I type it here in Q-Link? |||||||||||||| [22:00] {Balzabaar} (that was a row of 'em at the end of my last msg) [22:00] {King Sammy} Indeed.
