YIPPIE!!!!!! ? Did I miss something? Can you ask Jeri to LOAD a game. Dave "Watson" Ross is reporting live from the Expo! Cool well well.... Greg Nacu showed off the new version of the IDE64, talked a bit about the compact flash connection, hooked up a CD-ROM and showed it off, and talked about the "short bus" to connect peripherals like an ethernet adapter Maurice talked about HD-DOS+, but unfortunately there wasn't much to show off. Darn! It's "coming soon" though :) Almost done :) ANYONE videotaping the show!!!! ???? :-) I just reread the description of the latest IDE64, and I'm interested in it. Eric Kudzin has his C=64 powered ATM trainer he found in a bank's dumpster Yay! What a machine! The Geopublish demo went over my head, unfortunately, since I've never used the program. But it looks like there were options added to make it more useful and more integrated with PostPrint. Hmmm, is there more compatibility with drives C and D now with Geopublish 1.1? I have a "dream", let's make a PC-10 core and CPU card. Roger Lawhorn had the first demo, with a tiny little 800MHz PC running SuSE Linux 9.0 and a powerful bash script & series of C= programs he wrote. Sure wish I could have been at the Expo but had a stay on the ICU ward for a short week and that put an end for a while to my travel plans He can use it to interface with USB-connected digital cameras, scanners, CD-ROMs, CD-burners, etc. Wow, Joe, are you o.k. now? Some say it's cheating, but I think everyone has pretty much agreed to disagree commodore in the 21'st century... wow. Did he try out the interfacing? Does it work? weak but gotta keep on moving you know people die in beds We just got back from our dinner/beer run (*whistles innocently*), and the "unofficial" expo activities are well under way Joe, does that mean you still have all your C= stuff that you were going to transfer at the Expo? Greg is going to talk a bit about programming Wings and show off some new GUI developments. Unofficial? The music... the all-night coding? Seth Sternberg (8bit Weapon) is going to be playing some techno on a PC with a software synth or two, plus three breadbox 64s still got the drive and all the Q link files maybe a closer expo to Green Bay WI ??? And the rest of us are just kinda hacking away at different projects Hmmm, did he bring all the those items or were they loaned to him at the Expo? *** Disconnected Session Close: Sat May 29 21:24:17 2004 Session Start: Sat May 29 21:27:05 2004 *** Now talking in #c64friends *** Topic is 'ALL HAIL TO COMMODORE! Sadly not this night. My turn at dinner cooking in the commune. Oops, jan 1st Did Jeri put up any schematics on the wall? I figure she's the most in-the-know about C= hw projects these days and where they stand Whammo: I've got a very simplistic one done. no schemtics Good job Six- that'll wow -em at the office Six, Was there any talks about the C64DTV ? Watson, I've looked at SourceForge. Robert: I MISSED the expo :( Ah... no schematics... she changed her mind. Oh-oh, I thought you were there, Six. She showed some on the screen briefly Ah-ha, there you go! Watson - was there any talks about the C64DTV ? you should see the raised eybrows I get when I show 'em contiki from the office But not long enough for you to identify anything, right? oh yeah, Eric Kudzin got down on one knee and proposed to Jeri Whammo: I bet, most people think a C64 is some sort of antique. * Watson_ watches the rumor mill go into overdrive Contiki is nice. Was it a heart-felt proposal, Watson? ;-) Itell the I get stuff done on the 64 before the pee-cee boots up Whammo: Yeah, give me a choice, I'd give up the PC first. In other words, what did he exactly say? (Inquiring minds want to know!) He etched off the tops of 3 different revisions of SID chips, put them in a ring box, and publicly proposed...that she get photomicrographs of them ;)\ She said yes :) Huge applause from the crowd? yep i BET When are the ceremonies? ;-) Actually, I got to hear her version of the SID, and it sounded really good Kev, very good... I tell people the same thing... my C= is up and running before their PC. Yes, her SID is excellent (from the little I heard at Micropaloooza). The power isn't in the box- in's in the person sitting behind it Sorry gang have to be short tonight. See all of you next week. Kev, that is a good thing to remember. I do my main work behind my Commodore. bye *** LordRonin has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) Bye. 'course a superCPU helps Later LR.....too slow lol Oops. LordRonin has to prepare dinner. No, I'm not at the Expo. :-( I'm here in California. Nice1 Say hi to Jeri and anyone else there who wants to listen Dave Ross says that the Chicago C= Expo is September 4. I won't be able to make that one, either. :-( That leaves more money for the Grand C= Tour, Classic Gaming Expo, and Vintage Computer Festival. are you stopping in at astoria robert? Yes! I'm shooting for their July 15 meeting. On the way down from Canada. nice wish i could go with you Vancouver, B.C., used to have an Amiga or Commodore club. had a look at the pics page - that's a nice setup that Seths got! why is the monitor facing the other way though?! yeah a couple of them im sure i remember calling a bbs down there back in the early 90's back at the KB again hey wild* *** RobertB has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) wb lo Javauser> Yeah thst strange eh? How is it KilrPilr how is what? Sorry How is it "going" ? Klir: maybe showing off something to the audience? ah must be sorry wild* Its going great You're at the expo ? no i wish Ah so are you pretty happy that Robert is coming around to see you in astoria wild* Any news ? not too much just waiting for a lightgunand some games to show in the mail yeah i cant wait! Hehehe, got to be fun its a cheetah USE a TV ? or monitor supposedly you can convert a sega master system lightgun easily but i haemnt had any luck Usually a TV seem to work better due to the size of the screen. well ill try it on both :) Then again - it depends on the lightgun well i wish i could pick up a stack lightrifle but they seemt o be as rare as balls on a frog I remember a lightgun + video tape game... you'd play the tape, and the battery operated gun would keep score :) yeah i thought so to Fungus but it didnt maybe the guns were bad got a little predictable after a while though! Ive got one left to try how did that work Javauser? I guess the gun knew what colour it was reflecting from the screen and scored u depending on what u hit? ie. background or critter yeah that could be Fungus, sometimes i hvae a hard time figuring those dartn things out I have a lightgun from an NES. just hooked up an NES the other day - forgot what a bitch super mario bros was... no continue option! have to start again from square one! nes wont work Hehehe, yep - it can be. its totally dif Most of the old games didn't have a continue. There is a was to work it over. But not through the 9 pin port. They use a "serial dat protocol" kind of thing. Since the NES was essentially built on two 65xx chips It's just a light pen with a lens- the PRG explains how it works where did Robert go? seems like the older arcade based ones would've though - to keep u pumping in the coinage I think he was disconnected very true Java said something b4 about only be able to single-task... so maybe had to logoff to do something else? yes on his 128d but he didn didn't say anything about it though yeah cya everyone sorry i cnat stay longer tata later kilr take it easy all! later Kilr *** KilrPilr has quit IRC (Quit: Kiss my A$$) think I might go too - bye! later java *** JavaUser2 has quit IRC (Quit: Leaving) *** dunric (panks@SDF.LONESTAR.ORG) has joined #c64friends *** dunric has quit IRC (Client Quit) well I am going to call it a night NIght all, see you next week. later gamemaste Session Close: Sat May 29 23:50:45 2004
